REED CITY — A man who police say robbed a Marion gas station last year did not stand trial on Tuesday, after his recent arrest in the Detroit area.

Court proceedings for Norman Bowman, 34, of Marion, were scheduled to begin on Tuesday in Osceola County’s 49th Circuit Court. However, Bowman is currently in custody in the Detroit area on warrants unrelated to his charges in Osceola County. He is not expected to be released in time for the trial, said Osceola County Prosecutor Tyler Thompson.

Bowman was arrested last March in connection to a robbery at the Marion Shell station and charged with one count of armed robbery, a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

The Marion Shell station was robbed in February by a man in a mask similar to that worn by fictional murderer Jason Voorhees in the movie “Friday the 13th,” with black tear drops drawn on the sides of the eye holes.

The man produced a large, shiny knife and demanded money and cigarettes.
