Court report for week of Aug. 24
The 49th Circuit Court — Osceola County
REED CITY — The following cases were heard this week in Osceola County’s 49th Circuit Court. Not all cases are reported.
• Rebecca Lyn Thayer, 41, of Ypsilanti, pleaded guilty to writing a check with no account. The Huntington State Bank check was written for $64.98 at Chris’ Country Dollar. She was sentenced to five months in jail with 83 days credit. A second charge for a check written to Ben Franklin for $52.85 was dropped per a plea agreement, but Thayer was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $109.98 to Chris’ Country Dollar and $220.09 to Ben Franklin for check and bank fees the stores incurred. She will be on probation for one year.
• Dustin Lee Vanassche, 29, of Hersey, pleaded guilty to a third offense of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. His other drunken driving offenses took place in 2005 and 2009. His sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 23.
• Jeffrey Allen-Scott Baker, 23, of Evart, pleaded guilty to a second offense of possessing marijuana. He was convicted of manufacturing marijuana in 2009. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
• Austin Edward Johnson, 23, of Reed City, pleaded guilty to a malicious destruction of police property, in this case a Osceola County Sheriff’s Office surveillance camera. The prosecutor recommended he serve one year and one day in jail for the four-year felony. His sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sept. 9.
