William Lawrence Mongar, 83, of Cadillac passed away Monday May 14, 2012 at his home . He was born January 27, 1929, in Boon, Michigan, to Thomas and Dortha (Platz) Mongar. William was married to Dawn Taylor August 1952 and married Virginia A. Hinkley Thompson September 11, 1981, in Cadillac, Michigan.William enjoyed dancing in his younger years. He loved to travel and spent 13 winters in Florida after he retired. He worked at Hanson's Lunch for several years. He worked for the Wexford County Road Commission for 26 years. He served his country in the United States Air Force. William was a member of First Baptist Church of Tustin. He is survived by his wife, Virginia A. Mongar of Cadillac, MI, son, Tom (Alexia) Mongar of Boon, MI, daughter, Joyce (John) Okoren of Boon, MI, daughter, Pam (Greg) kumfer of Harretta, MI, daughter, Debra (Herb) Jennings of Cadillac, MI, daughter, Carla (Mike) Filkins of Cadillac, MI, son, James (Elaine) Thompson of MD, son, Mike (Michelle) Thompson of Cadillac, MI, daughter, Carol (Tim) Koschmider of Cadillac, MI, brother, Al (Eleanor) Mongar of Boon, MI, sister, Maxine Cook of Cadillac, MI, sister, Rose MacCrossen of Battle Creek, MI, sister, Betty (Joe) Racine of Lowell, MI, sister, Evelyn Brodberg of Cadillac, MI, sister, Beverly Maddox of Grand Rapids, MI, brother, Dick (Mary) Mongar of Yuma, MI, 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Wilson Mongar, mother, Dortha Bell Mongar, 1st wife, Dawn Mongar, brother, Charles Mongar, brother, Arnold Mongar, brother, Floyd Mongar, sister, Mary Rockinger. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church Of Cadillac Wednesday May 16, 2012 at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Sean Nemecek. Interment will be at the Sherman Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tustin, or Mercy Hospice. The arrangements were entrusted to the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac.
