Grab some candy and a costume and enjoy some movies with your friends this Halloween season. These are some of my personal favorites. 5. Nightmare before Christmas There might be some debate over whether this movie is a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie, but there’s no reason that it can’t be both. Hop along with Jack Skellington as this Halloween icon saves Christmas. 4. The Fly (1986) Jeff Goldblum gives a superb performance in this grotesque 1980s film. Not a movie for the faint of heart or for anyone who can get squeamish, The Fly is perfect for fans of classic horror movies. You will never look at a housefly (or Goldblum) the same. 3. The Shining What could possibly be spookier than Stephen King? This classic about a family dealing with their own demons while acting as caretakers for a hotel is the perfect evening movie for a cold October evening. Take a drive to the Overlook Hotel and see how “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” 2. The Rocky Horror Picture Show Get ready to do the time warp and explore Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s zany castle. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the epitome of a cult classic. Full of song and dance and Tim Curry at his finest, the show bounces off the walls with non-stop laughs. 1. Monster House An early 2000s instant Halloween classic, Monster House is fun for the whole family. Both children and adults will find emotional depth in this as well as edge of seat suspense. Take a dive into the Monster House and let the movie engulf you. For more information on where to stream these selections, click here.
