CHASE - Rex M. Ostrander, 83, of Chase, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born on Feb. 14, 1930, in Jackson, to Melvin and Maxine (Warner) Ostrander. He attended Parma schools, graduating from Parma High School in 1947. Rex married Henrietta Wolf on Aug. 14, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Nancy (Larry Kiester) Ostrander, of Kimmel, Ind., Linda (John) Taylor, of DeWitt, Debra (Richard) Day, of Lake George, and LuAnn (Ken) Pollaski, of Chase; one son, Rick (Donna) Ostrander, of Chase; two brothers, Walt (Barb) Ostrander and Marian (Gail) Ostrander; one sister, Virginia Marsh; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Rex was a resident of the Chase area since 1971, and he had worked as a parts manager at several auto dealerships. He had been a member of the U.S. National Guard and enjoyed bow hunting. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at McDowell Funeral Home, with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Pinora Township Cemetery.
