Mabelle Preston EVART \u2014 Mabelle Preston, 102, of Evart, died on Tuesday, March 29,2011, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born on Dec. 19, 1908, in Evart, to Emmet Morse and Katie McLachlan, who proceeded her in death. She graduated from Evart High School in 1926 and attended Ferris Institute. She married Delmer Preston on June 18, 1932, in Cedar Springs. He proceeded her in death on Oct. 13 1991. Mabelle was a lifelong Evart area resident and spent her winters at St. Cloud Trailer Park in Florida for many years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Emerald Lake Store, then at the Evart Milling Company. She was a member of the Chippewa Community Church and the Emerald Birthday Club. She also served as Chippewa Township treasurer for many years. She enjoyed puzzles, reciting poetry and being part of a loving family. She is survived by two daughters, Ilene (Bill) Stein of Evart and Joyce (Jerry) Gelaude of Harrison Township; son-in-law, Marvin Trimner of Chase; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Glenda Trimner; grandson, Dick Stein; brother, Clarence Morse; and two sisters, Letha Corey and Leola Smith. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Corey Funeral Home in Evart, with the Rev. Stephen Scott officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart.
