EVART\u00a0\u2014\u00a0James Richard Borden, 75, of Evart, died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Spectrum Health\u00a0Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids after a 40-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born to James Owen and Florence (Comstock) Borden on May 25, 1939, at their home\u00a0in Evart. He graduated from Evart High School in 1957. He joined the U.S. Air Force and worked\u00a0for Buick in Flint until his health forced him to retire. Jim, aka \u201cSonny,\u201d aka \u201cJB,\u201d enjoyed fishing and\u00a0hunting, shooting pool, playing chess and cards, and loved playing golf. When his illness diminished his\u00a0physical activities, he enjoyed watching sports while smoking a cigar. Jim is survived by his ex-wife and devoted caregiver, Maryann (Oade) Borden, of Evart; their two\u00a0children, Rhonda (David) Huff, of Evart, and Randall (Andrea) Borden, of Farmington; six grandchildren,\u00a0Alysia and Abbey Huff, Andrea (Jacob) Wirth, Dillon, Casey and Grant Borden; and great-grandson, Ezra\u00a0Wirth; one sister, Kay (Sterling) McLachlan; his many loved nieces and nephews that he enjoyed; and a\u00a0trusted and special caregiver, Sharon Heberling, that allowed him to live at home his way. In addition to\u00a0his parents, Jim and Florence, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Borden; a beloved brother and\u00a0sister-in-law, Duane and Maria Borden; and nephew, Jimmy Borden. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held.
