CHASE \u2014 Ida I. DeHaas, 79, of Chase, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born to Clarence and Irene (Stratner) Beach, on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1935, in Levering. Ida was a woman of many accomplishments. She worked as a benefits representative for General Motors for 31 years, before her retirement. She also served on the UAW CAP Council, served as chairwoman and very active member for the Kent County Democratic Party, was a member of the Quilter\u2019s Guild and was very instrumental in creating the \u201cRide for a Cure\u201d program at D bar D Ranch, for which she was incredibly proud of. Ida was a loving and devoted wife, wonderful mother, dear sister and friend, and the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew her. Ida is survived by her loving children, Denise Clinton, Douglas (Maricel) Baker, Damon (Abby) Baker, Darwin Baker, Timothy (Margo) DeHaas and Tamara (Richard) Wojtowicz; grandchildren, Jessie, Douglas, Jr., Damon, Jr., Jon, Chelsea and Arden; eight great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Beach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arden L. Baker and Baxter \u201cBuck\u201d G. DeHaas; grandson, Glenn McClure; and brother, Charles (Georgia) Beach. There will be a time of visitation held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford. The funeral service for Ida will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rockford Cemetery.
