Helen Caroline Swales, 83, of the Evart area died Sunday May 6 at her home in Osceola Township. She was born in Gladwin April 4, 1929 to Otto and Mae (Wallace) Yeager. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister. Helen loved farming, gardening, cooking, and taking her naps with her new grandchild. Mrs. Swales leaves behind her 10 children, Larry (Glenda) Swales of Evart, Carolyn (James) Brady of Traverse City, Betty (Steven) Fenton of Sears, Joan Fenton of Sears, Kenneth Swales of Sears, Gary Swales of Evart, Donna (Lloyd) Robbins of Evart, Kathy (David) Parks of Evart, Cheryl Zea of Evart, and Susan Swales of Hersey, two sisters, Evelyn Williams of Reed City, and Anna Ureste of Barryton, two brothers, John (Viola) Yeager of Evart, and Gus Yeager of Evart, 28 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William James Swales, grandson Brian Swales, great grandson Krystian Swales, brothers Julius Yeager, Willie Yeager, Harold Yeager, sister Eleanor Hemenway, and son-in-law Bill Fenton. Funeral services were Friday, May 11 at the Corey Funeral Home, Evart. Internment took place at the Orient Township Cemetery in Osceola County.
