FORT MOHAVE, Ariz. \u2014 Eugene R. Ward, 88, passed away on June 2, 2017, in Fort Mohave, Ariz., after a long, full life. Eugene was born on Feb.\u00a013, 1929, in Missouri, and moved to Michigan as a young man where he married Evelyn (Holtkamp) Ward and raised five children. Gene was a proud veteran and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Gene retired from truck driving and being a chauffeur to generals, later moving to Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn (Polly); daughters, Jean Zeien\u00a0and Jan (Scott) Moran; sons, James (Cindy) Ward, Joseph (Connie) Ward and Jerry (Tammy) Ward; one sister, Leta (Richard) Tobianski; and a brother-in-law, Dick (Thelma) Jacklyn. He truly loved his many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, with several more on the way. He also had many nieces and nephews and their children who he loved too. Gene never met a stranger. If you were breathing he would talk to you. If you were a child you would also get a smile and sometimes a candy cane. Cremation has taken place, but the family would like to invite all who loved Gene to an outdoor memorial at 1 p.m., on\u00a0Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 57758 Mound Road, Washington, MI 48094 (Jacklyns).
