OSCEOLA TWP. \u2014 Dorothy J. Thompson, of Evart and St. Cloud, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Osceola Township in Osceola County. She was 93. Mrs. Thompson was born on Sept. 18, 1923, in Chippewa Township in Mecosta County, to Earl Edward and Letha Marie (Morse) Corey. She graduated from Hersey High School in 1941. She lived in Hersey, moved to Pontiac, and then moved back to the Evart area in 1955. She married Robert D. Thompson May 16, 1944, in Evart, and he preceded her in death July 3, 1990. Dorothy was a member of the South Evart Free Methodist Church, the Emerald Lake Birthday Club, St. Cloud Hobby Club and had served as secretary of the Osceola County Fair Board for 30 years. She enjoyed all types of crafts. She had wintered in Florida since 1972. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Ruby (Mike) Frazier, of Clarksville, Ark., and Patsy Doane, of Evart; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Johnson, of Big Rapids; and son-in- law, Dick Knapp, of Evart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert D. Thompson; her daughter, Lois Knapp; two sisters, Betty Walkowski and Anna Mae Brigham; and two brothers, Maurice Corey and Lee Corey. Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Thompson are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Sandy Keller officiating. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home. Dorothy will be interred next to her husband in Oakdale Cemetery near Hersey. Memorial contributions may be directed to Osceola County 4-H FFA Fair.
