HERSEY \u2014 Delbert D. \u201cPat\u201d Bitler, 87, of Hersey, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his home. He was born on March 1, 1925, in Mount Pleasant, to Percy and Flossie (Keysor) Bitler. He attended schools in Mount Pleasant and Reed City, graduating from Reed City High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in Europe and the Pacific theater. He married Dorothy Morlock on Oct. 4, 1946. Pat had managed the Sears store in Big Rapids for many years. He attended Hersey United Methodist Church and was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 2964 in Reed City. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and was an avid card player. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, David (LeAnn) Bitler, of Manistee; two daughters, Jane (Bill) Torry, of Big Rapids, and Carol (Ken) Ladd, of Evart; six grandchildren, Billy (Michelle) Torry, Marcy (Derrick) Jaques, Nichole (Ladd) Boland, Darrick (Michelle) Ladd, Joel (Emily) Bitler and Corey (Justine) Bitler; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Marge) Bitler, of Mississippi; and one sister, Karen (Pat) McKinney, of Reed City. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Joy; and one brother, Dale. Funeral services were held at on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the Hersey United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lem Granada officiating. Burial with military honors was in Hersey Village Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Pat\u2019s name may consider giving to the Hersey United Methodist Church.
