Don Stein, 87, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away April 19 at home with his children at his side. Don was born in Evart on March 10, 1925 to the late Homer and Mildred (Hinkley) Stein. He married the former Mary Vanderhoef on June 18, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2004. He retired from Dow Chemical and pursued his true passion, hunting. Don had a great love for his familoy and friends, enjoyed deer hunting and watching the Detroit Tiger's baseball games. Don is survived by his five children; Bev (Randy) Toth of Auburn, Nikki (Denny) Krzysiak of Auburn, Bart (Cindy) Stein of Midland, Terri (Kenny) Steih of Midland and Kara (Kirk) Craddock of Auburn, ten grandchildren, Jake and Nate Krzysiak, Gabe, Dani and Chelsea Stein, Aubrea and Brody Steih, Autumn, Alex and Cooper Craddock, Eric, Scott and Brett Toth, 11 great-grandchildren, also Bill and Ilene Stein, Clinton Stein, Verda McLachlan, his special friend, Bev Stevens, his deer hunting crew, many nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren. He also was predeceased by brothers, sisters and their spouses, Joe and Marie Stein, Marcie Stein, Vivian Stein, Gerald Stein and Herm McLachlan.
