Betty E. Hansen, of Evart, passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 at Grace Haven Assisted Living in St. Johns, Michigan. She was 90. Mrs. Hansen was born April 4, 1922 in Farwell, Michigan to Emil Foell and Anna (Sherman) Foell. She graduated from Farwell High School in1939 and attended Central Michigan University where she received her teaching degree. Betty married Red Hansen December 25, 1946 in Clare and he preceded her in death March 9, 2010. She had been an Evart resident since 1946 and taught school at Evart High School for 30 years. Mrs. Hansen attended the Evart United Methodist Church and was a member of the Michigan Education Association. Betty enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her great grandchildren. Daughter Mary Sue (Ned) Smaltz of East Lansing, grandson David (Misty) Smaltz of Davisburg, Michigan, two great grandchildren Melanie and Matthew, sister Margaret (Bud) Cargill of Troy, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Red. Funeral services for Betty E. Hansen are 11 a.m. Friday January 25th at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24 at the funeral home.
