The 62-year-old Ogemaw County man won $1.15 million with the ticket he purchased in Rose City, according to a Michigan Lottery press release.
"I always purchase a Lotto 47 ticket when I stop at the gas station in the morning to get coffee," said the player in the release. "I went to the same gas station a few days after purchasing my Lotto 47 ticket and the clerk asked if I’d bought a Lotto 47 ticket from them recently because they had sold a $1.15 million winning ticket.
"I pulled the ticket out of my wallet and had her scan it. When a message came up saying to file a claim at the Lottery office, the clerk’s face lit up and she handed me a printout of the winning numbers. When I saw I’d matched them all, I dropped to my knees in tears. I feel so incredibly blessed!"
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, told lottery officials that he planned to use his winnings to pay bills, complete home renovations and invest.
"Each Lotto 47 play is only $1," the release reads. "Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly."
