Near Lake Michigan, the coldest temperatures will be early Friday and Saturday mornings with wind chills between -20 and -30 degrees in the coldest spots, according to the NWS. On Monday, Feb. 6, a high of 34 degrees is forecasted.
As for central Michigan, the wind chill will struggle to rise out of the single digits this week. But a high near 35 degrees is forecasted for Monday in Midland.
"After a very mild January overall, we wrap up the month with a much colder day today," the NWS wrote Tuesday on Facebook. "Bundle up!"
When temperatures are this cold remember to limit time outdoors and cover any exposed skin, the NWS advised. Protect pets and livestock from the cold, and check on elderly neighbors. Keep a winter survival kit in your car including blankets, clothes, scraper/shovel, sand, jumper cables food and first aid supplies.
