EVART — Willis David Smeaton, 80, of Evart, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Renucci Hospitality House in Grand Rapids.

Mr. Smeaton was born on Dec. 23, 1936, in Silverwood, to Wallace and Pauline (Wargo) Smeaton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Willis married Beverly Evans on Aug. 3, 1987, in Kenton County, Ky. He retired from GM after 35 years and moved to the Baldwin area and later to Evart. Mr. Smeaton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Evart.

Willis is survived by his wife, Beverly Smeaton, of Evart; daughter, Sheila Smeaton, of Ypsilanti; son, David Smeaton, of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Kendra and Derek Smeaton and Elizabeth Stierle; great-grandchildren, Blake and Bella; two sisters, Ruth Moran, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jean Bradley, of Millington; and two brothers, Robert Smeaton, of North Lake, and Ronald Smeaton, of Gary, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helene Davis-Campbell; and three brothers, Wallace Smeaton, Randy Smeaton and Terry Smeaton.

Funeral services for Willis David Smeaton are at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Evart with Pastor Ryan Beilfuss officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart.

Mr. Smeaton will be interred in Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart.
