CHASE — William Jerome Latin, 94, of Chase, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Rehab and Nursing Center of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital.

He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Chase, to John Phillip and Dora (Lovrinich) Latin, and attended the Oliver schoolhouse near Chase. On Dec. 1, 1962, he was married to Shirley Dolly, who passed away March 25, 2016.

William began working the family farm with his father as soon as he could walk and continued farming his ancestral land until his retirement in 1994. He was a lifelong member of St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church and served upon numerous township boards and committees. He enjoyed playing cards at the Reed City Senior Center with his friends.

The Latin family would like to extend their thanks to the Rehab and Nursing Center staff for the wonderful care and compassion they showed William the last 15 months.

He is survived by his children, Karen (Tom) Kienitz, Linda Latin and Tom (Keri) Latin; and grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Matthew, Benjamin, Eric, Katelynn, Elijah and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Latin; his parents, John and Dora Latin; his siblings, Anna Pollaski, Pauline Latin, Dolly Courtade, Zorka Latin, John Latin and Violet Latin; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church in Reed City, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Hodges officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church Parking Lot Fund or to a charity of your choice.
