It's a hot debate that rolls around every fall: to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween ends, to wait for Thanksgiving to pass, or to start in December.

Americans opting for a real tree this year, Parade ranked the best Christmas tree farms in each U.S. state.

"From the purple mountain majesty to the wide golden prairie to the ocean, many Americans are searching for the best Christmas tree farms closest to home to get their live evergreens this year," the website said. "Whether you've already pulled all your decorations out of storage or have no clue where to start, we’ve done our research and mapped out the best Christmas tree farms that every state has to offer!"

In Michigan, North Star Gardens is the best place to buy Christmas trees, according to the study.

Located in the city of Wolverine, this Christmas tree farm is family-owned and operated, according to the farm's website.

Parade chose the farm because visitors can watch classic Christmas films while sitting on hay bales and sipping on free cocoa or coffee before or after choosing their tree!

North Star offers fresh-cut Christmas trees up to 20 feet tall, wreaths, garland, centerpieces and a holiday gift shop.
