REED CITY — Need a light?
A new business, West Michigan Candle Company, held its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at noon Friday, Aug. 19, in downtown Reed City.
Owner Becca Stead cut the ribbon, then welcomed the public inside for free cookies and to sample her candles.
"It was really fun. I love the big giant scissors, and it's great to be surrounded with family and friends," Stead said.
Stead's No. 1 goal is to provide safe candles that people with kids can bring home and not have to worry about, since she has kids herself.
"I really wanted a place to be able to bring something to do especially during the winter when it's harder to do stuff. So I just kind of wanted it to be like a gathering place and have fun," Stead said.
"We are pretty excited to be finally open," Stead said. "We put a lot of work into this."
