Virginia Edith Huffman


Virginia Edith Huffman passed away Wednesday April 24, 2013, at Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon. She was 88.

Virginia was born August 10, 1924, in Lansing, MI to Ardon and Edith (Witter) Parker. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1942. She married James E. Huffman on October 10, 1943 in Flint and he preceded her in death March 4, 2008. She retired from Hatchel Realty in Bay City as a realtor in 1985 and moved to the Sears area.

Virginia was a founding member of the Woodcarvers Round-up, member of Chief Osceola Woodcarvers, member of Michigan Woodcarvers Association, member of Highlander Dulcimer Club, and was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church. She truly enjoyed laughter and had a knack for making people comfortable.

She is survived by four daughters, Judy (Gerald) Morgan of Bay City, Janice (Donald) LaBrenz II of Muskegon, Jeannie (Rod) Swedburg of Ballantine, Montana, Joanne Huffman of Billings, Montana; three sons, John (Vicky) Huffman of Bay City, Jack (Michele) Huffman of Bay City, Jeffery (Brenda) Huffman of Billings, Montana; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; one sister, Esther (Richard) BeDen of Germantown, NC, three brothers, Robert Parker of Bancroft, MI, David Parker of Corunna, MI Donald (Linda) Parker of Corunna MI; and special friends Sandy Holder, Sunny Simons, Dottie Jackson, and Noel and Stephanie Senecal survive her.

Her parents, husband James E. Huffman, son Gerald Huffman, grandson Eric, son-in-law Lynn Sorgenfrei, and sister Ardonna Twing preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Virginia Edith Huffman are 2 p.m. Sunday April 28, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Kara Lynn Burns and Glynn Russell officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday April 27 at the funeral home. Virgina Huffman’s final restng place will be the Laingsburg Cemetery in Laingsburg, Michigan.
