Vera LaJean (Parmelee) Knapp

REED CITY — Vera LaJean (Parmelee) Knapp, 83, of Reed City, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.

She was born May 17, 1932, in Osceola County to Howard H. Parmelee and Laura Blanche (Boyce) Parmelee and was raised in Osceola County, graduating from Reed City High School.

Vera’s employment included working as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone, as a factory worker and as receptionist for Reed City Medical Associates. She believed in working hard in life and had a strong work ethic. Vera loved picking blueberries, working in her flower gardens, tatting, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful listener, confidant, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Vera was the beloved wife of Lester L. Knapp, whom she is survived by and with whom she shared over 64 years of marriage. She is also survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Her son, Rick (Robin) Knapp, of Hersey; and their children, Cameron and Sydney; her daughter, Kim (Steve) Williams, of Downingtown, Pa., and their children, Ashley, Nathan and Kaleb; and by her granddaughter, Nicole (Knapp) Sims, of Hersey and her three children, Liam, Aria and Alba. Vera was predeceased by her beloved son, Randal Knapp; her brothers, Oren (Janice) and Arlon (Orma) Parmelee; and her sister, Vernice (Parmelee) Pruitt.

Funeral services will held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Ashton with a luncheon to follow. The family is asking that any donations please be made to the United Methodist Church of Ashton or to Hospice of Michigan.
