Velma Mae Sims Heneger

REED CITY — Velma Mae Sims Heneger, 85, of Reed City, died on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at Grand Oaks Nursing Home in Baldwin.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1929, to Clarence Gillispie and Anna Kellar, of Indiana in Manistee County. She graduated from Dickson High School in Brethren on May 15, 1947, and her class motto was “Success in Our Destiny.” Her first marriage was to Howard Sims and later to Buford Heneger. She worked at Evart Products and in her retirement years was the grandma of Grandma’s Dog House, a successful pet boarding business in Reed City. She was formerly a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church and later at Liberty Baptist Church of Reed City.

She was survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Marla Sims, Arlen and Sue Sims, and Clinton Sims. She left grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her spouses; her son, Dean Sims; daughter-in-law, Theresa Sims; and granddaughter, Julie Anne Sims.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Liberty Baptist Church of Reed City.
