HERSEY — Veda F. Morris, 90, of Hersey, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at her home.

She was born June 8, 1926, in Reed City, to Glen and Edith (Lord) Preston and attended Reed City Schools, graduating from Reed City High School.

Veda married Wayne Morris on July 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2001. She had worked as a switchboard operator for Michigan Bell in the 1940s. Veda had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1945, and had been active in church activities, including the circle and assisting assembling the bulletins.

She also was active in volunteering for the food pantry, the hospital and the school. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, cooking and her granddaughter's dog, Trooper.

Veda is survived by her son Scott, of Reed City, and granddaughter, Meghan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth, John, Fred, Robert and Lynn; and sisters, Bernice, Lavonne, Glenna and Ellen.

Funeral services took place Friday, June 2, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Dawn Pooley officiating. Burial was in Hersey Village Cemetery.
