OSCEOLA, LAKE COUNTY — If you’re wondering what to do with those old, worn out electronics and tires, wonder no more.

The Osceola-Lake Conservation District has scheduled a tire and electronics collection for 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 6, at Recycle of Osceola County, 531 E. Lincoln Ave., Reed City.

“We do this once a year to help the residents with the disposal of household electronics,” said chairperson Connie Theunick-Perley. “Last year we filled a semi-trailer with tires. The tires are bad for mosquitoes because they collect water, so we like to get those picked up. It cuts down on diseases.”

The recycle center will be accepting office and household electronics, such as TVs, computers, monitors, keyboards, microwaves, phones, stereos, game systems and printers.

No units containing freon and no large appliances will be accepted.

Passenger tires on or off rims will be accepted, with a limit of 10 per drop-off. No tires over 12 inches wide or over 4 feet tall will be accepted. Tires must be dry and debris free.

There is no charge for item drop-off. The collection is funded through grant dollars and donations, Perley said.
