Nine beaches across Michigan are either closed or under contamination advisories this upcoming Labor Day weekend.

All closures and advisories are blamed on high bacteria levels due to wildlife or other unknown causes, according to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

These closures come as Accuweather predicts a beautiful Labor Day, with mostly sunny weather in the mid 70s.

In total, five beaches are currently under contamination advisories and four will be closed this weekend, according to the DEQ's online service, "BeachGuard."

Michigan beaches closed:

• Big Seven Lake: Seven Lakes State Park, Oakland
• Crooked Lake: Independence Oaks County Park, Oakland
• Handsome Lake: Crossroads for Youth, Oakland
• Wixom Lake: Wixom Waters, Midland

Michigan beaches under contamination advisories:

• Houghton Lake: Lakeview Park, Roscommon
• Independence Lake: Independence Lake County Park, Washtenaw
• Lake St. Clair: St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach, Macomb
• Pickerel Lake: Camp Petosega, Emmet
• Pike Bay: Portage Canal/Lake Superior Chassell Beach, Houghton
