Stephen B. Foster

SYLVAN TOWNSHIP – Stephen B. Foster of Sylvan Township. near Evart passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids. He was 77.

Mr. Foster was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Detroit to Edmund and Sarah (Blasius) Foster. He graduated from Evart High School in 1954. Stephen married Norma Jean Wilson on October 1, 1955 in Barryton and she preceded him in death Jan. 18.

Stephen moved to the Evart area at three-years old and spent the rest of his life in the community.

He had worked at Fisher Body in Flint, drove truck for Pepsi and Gene’s Bottled Gas, was a foreman at Riverside Electric in Marion, and worked for Evart Products, retiring in 1989.

In his early years he was an avid hunter, enjoyed woodworking, was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, and when his health began to fail him, he took up cross stitching.

Three daughters, Toni (Dick) Morgan of Evart, Theresa (Martin) Zilska of Evart, Tamie (Joe) Deer of Evart; two sons, Mark (Christina) Foster of Evart, Marvin (Corinna) Foster of Evart, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren survive him.

His parents, wife Norma Jean, daughter Tina, two granddaughters Mallory and Melanie, sister Marge, four brothers, Marvin, Aubrey, Edmund, and Herb preceded him in death. He was the last of six siblings.

Funeral services for Stephen B. Foster are set for 1 p.m. Thursday Nov. 29 at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Pastor Pat Robinson and Pastor Gene Hockey officiating.

Visitation is Wednesday Nov. 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Internment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart.
