CHASE — Robert Owen Wiese Sr., 61, of Chase, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at his home in Pinora Township.
Robert was born in Chicago to Herbert Albert and Irene Mary (Bombliss) Wiese, on March 3, 1954. He was a retired jeweler, master gem cutter and gold and silversmith acknowledged by the National Gemological Institute of America. Robert was a certified MIG Welder with the Aerospace Union and was an accomplished artist in various mediums such as painting, sculpting and wood carving. Robert was proprietor of "Ye OldeTime Gold and Silversmith Shoppe" in Reed City from 1982 to 1985 and the Waking Eagle Campground in Chase from 1994 to 1997. He was a resident of Lake County for 37 years and was an avid gem collector and activist whose favorite charity was "Aid to Injured Motorcyclists."
Robert is survived by his wife, Diana L. Wiese, of Ashton; his children, Amber L. Wiese, of Baldwin, Robert O. Wiese, of North Dakota, and Rachel L. Wiese, of Ashton; grandchildren, Santana L.K. VanBuskirk, Justus A.J. Wiese, and Patience S. Erickson; his mother, Irene M. Wiese, of Chicago; and brother, Richard A. Wiese, of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert A. Wiese; and his first wife, Linda (Brinn) Wiese.
Gathering in memory of Robert O. Wiese Sr. will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the Pinora Twp. Hall, located at 4032 S. Deer Lake Rd. in Reed City, with memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. There will be food and music in honor of Robert’s wish to celebrate life.
