REED CITY — Dr. Robert James Graham, 74, of Reed City, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, in Big Rapids, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on Nov. 15, 1940, in Highland Park. He was a 1958 graduate of River Rouge High School, a 1963 graduate of Hillsdale College and a 1968 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bob began his 46-year career in medicine in Trenton, where he worked at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital with his father, Dr. Victor Graham, and his brother, Dr. Bill Graham. He practiced medicine across the state of Michigan, but spent the majority of his career in Sault Ste. Marie. He had a practice in Reed City from 1987 to 1990. He served as a physician for the Chippewa County Jail, MDOC in Kinross, LSSU Lakers, Soo Indians, Soo Eagles hockey teams and countless boxing matches. Bob was a teacher, counselor, advocate and learned friend for thousands of patients. He never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his humor, in and out of the treatment room. He loved his family dearly and passed on the tradition of service to the community to his five children. Bob loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He spent many birthdays hunting deer in Bay Mills with his best friends, Ralph and Shirley Wilcox.
