Robert Andrew Brown

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Robert Andrew Brown, 89, died on July 7, 2013, in his Northbrook, Ill. home.

He was born on April 10, 1924, in Reed City, and graduated from Reed City High School in 1942. An international patent law attorney and professional engineer, Robert ran a private practice for more than 30 years. Robert received a bachelor's in engineering in 1949 from the University of Michigan after serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He graduated in 1965 from Chicago-Kent College of Law. An avid alumnus, Robert was a former president of the University of Michigan Club of Chicago. He served on the Northbrook Park District Board of Commissioners, held memberships in many professional and civic organizations and was a lifetime member of the Lou B. Winsor Masonic Lodge No. 363 in Reed City.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Andrea; son, Gregory Smith; and brother, Emerson.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Betty; mother, Ethel; father, Milton; sisters, Marjorie and Jean; and brother, Randall. A celebration of Mr. Brown's life will take place on Oct. 26, 2013, in Northbrook, Ill.

Robert will have a Masonic memorial service at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at McDowell Funeral Home in Reed City.
