Richard Edward Hewgley

REED CITY — Richard Edward Hewgley, 72, of Reed City, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, in Grand Rapids.

He was born on July 30, 1941, in Detroit, to Sidney Green and Dorothy Mae (Mero) Hewgley, and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. On May 20, 1961, he was married in Detroit to Jean McClellan, who survives. He was employed for many years as a conductor on the railroad in the Detroit area. He moved from Detroit to Baldwin in 1978 and was an area resident the remainder of his life. He will be missed by many people for many different reasons.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Hewgley, of Reed City; children, Richard Jr. (Brenda) Hewgley, of Akron, Charles “Sonny” (Michele) Hewgley, of Oxford, and Dawn (Jim) Dodd, of Tustin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Dorothy Hewgley; brother, Glenn Hewgley; sister, Joyce (Gust) Palmer; nephew, Glenn Hewgley Jr.; and granddaughter, Carrie Rose Beilfuss.

In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services are planned. He will be laid to rest next to his granddaughter in Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Baldwin.
