REED CITY — Although the start date is a little later this season, the Reed City ice rink is up and ready for local skaters to enjoy.
Several local enthusiasts joined forces to put the rink up, including the Reed City Boy Scouts, local citizens and city officials.
In a post on the Reed City Outdoor Recreation Facebook page, council member Dan Burchette gave a special thank you to Lynda McKeller Bloom and her husband for donating a load of wood; and Jonathan Zelinski and family for their work, along with Charles L Lupo, Mandi Merriss and her husband Casey.
Burchette was joined by city council member Trevor Guiles and city manager Rich Saladin in helping put up walls.
The Reed City Fire Department and department of public works chipped in putting the rink together and filling it with water.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and helped get the ice rink up and putting the lights on the Christmas tree,” Burchette said in the post. “There are a ton more to thank for helping out, and I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.”
