REED CITY — The Reed City city council approved a contract with Republic Services for solid waste management during a recent meeting, which will begin on Jan. 1, 2023.

According to information posted by the city, the former contractor, GFL, will be picking up their carts over the next month, including both recycling and trash carts, however, GFL red bags can be utilized through Jan. 31.

If you have paid for future services with GFL, contact the company at 989-588-6000 to process a refund.

Regarding recycling, Republic offered curbside recycling services only if they have 100 or more customers signed up. If you would like to receive curbside recycling, call 877-698-7274. If the threshold of 100 customers is not met, curbside recycling will not be offered.

The Reed City recycling center is open from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from noon to 3 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon, every second Saturday.
