EVART — Ralph K. Hinkley, of Evart, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2016 at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. He was 93.

Ralph was born May 20, 1921 to John R. and Mary K. Hinkley. He attended Alexander Country School south of Evart through the 8th grade. Mr. Hinkley was a 1938 graduate of Evart High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Ferris Institute (now Ferris State University) in 1947.

Mr. Hinkley married Vivian C. Yunk in Arcadia on December 27, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2012.

Ralph was employed at pharmacies in Frankfort and Traverse City and after several moves he built and operated the pharmacy known as Hinkley Drugs in 1949 to 1977 on the west side of Main Street in Evart.

Mr. Hinkley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evart, the Quad County Pharmaceutical Association, Evart Chamber of Commerce, and the Tuesday Night Shakespeare Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, gardening, and golf.

Surviving are three sons, Kirk Hinkley of E. Wenatchee, WA, Daniel J. Hinkley of Kingston, WA, Terry L. Hinkley of Juneau, Alaska, five grandsons, Adam and Noah Gregory, Kyle, Kasey, and Christopher Hinkley, and a sister Marge Beeson of Longmont, CO. Mr. Hinkley was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian, daughter Amy Gregory, sister Nina Dayton, and two brothers Don and Paul.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evart and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hinkley’s name to the Amy Gregory Scholorship fund of the Osceola County Community Foundation.
