Richard P. Bradford, 86, of Baldwin, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior May 26, 2012, at his home in Baldwin. Richard was born in Baldwin, August 31, 1925 to Jesse and Elsie (Figger) Bradford.

He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1944. Immediately there after Richard began a tour of duty in the United States Marines. His tour of duty took place during our Country’s Second World War, and brought him to the Pacific Theater and the shores of Iwo Jima, where he fought bravely with his Marine Unit.

Mr. Bradford held the office of Baldwin Village Clerk for 30 plus years and was, for many years, the Baldwin Street Administrator. For about 35 years, he worked and then retired from the Lake County Road Commission.

He was a life member of the VFW and served many years as the Peacock VFW Post Commander. In 1947 he married Geraldine LaFountain at the Baldwin Congregational Church. Geraldine preceded him in death in 2003.

Mr. Bradford is survived by his children, daughter, Cinda Merrill of Barryton, daughter, Janice (Walter) Wroblewski of Bitely, daughter-in-law, Margie Bradford of Reed City. Also surviving are 7 grand children, 7 great grand children, sister, Annie Vasicek, brother-in-law, Robert Camfield Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geraldine Bradford, son, Rick Bradford, son-in-law, Chuck Merrill, brother, Bryce Bradford, sister, Maxine Avery, sister, Virginia Camfield, brother, Bill Bradford and sister, Bonnie Luke.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday May 29, 2012, at the Baldwin Congregational Church. Rev. Jeffrey Potter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Plains Twp. Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Verdun Funeral Home of Baldwin, 231-745-4680.
