MOUNT PLEASANT — Phillip Douglas Hyden Sr., 65, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Laurels of Mount Pleasant.
Mr. Hyden was born on Oct. 10, 1948, in Monroe, to Jesse J. and Janeadaire T. (Cousino) Hyden. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Phillip married Kathryn Vallade in Monroe on Aug. 14, 1970. The most important thing to him was his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coin collecting and stayed true to the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hyden, of Evart; daughter, Kathy (Vicente) Hyden-Damaso, of Evart; grandchildren, Dustin Hyden, Jesse Hyden, Cody Hyden, Vicente Hyden, Raquel Hyden, Selena Hyden, of Evart, and Devin Hyden, of Monroe; and a great-grandson, Jayce; a sister, Shirley (Tim) Jacobson, of Evart; and a brother, Roger Hyden, of Chase.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Jr.; and granddaughter, Angel.
Funeral services for Phillip D. Hyden Sr. are at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart with Father Joe Fix Officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m.
Internment will be in the Osceola Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Homeless Veterans.
