Philip Tragis, of Evart, passed away Wed. January 16, 2013 at his home in Evart Township. He was 92.

Mr. Tragis was born Dec. 21, 1920 in Eynon, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Agnes (Kane) Tragis. Philip married Evelyn Fahlsing in Dearborn June 7, 1945 and she preceded him in death Oct. 30, 1995.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Tragis  retired to the Evart area in 1974 after working for Ford Motor Company for 35 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart and was an active member and Past Post Commander of VFW Post 7979, Evart.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan (Neal) Hahka of Troy, Shariann (Alfred) Nickles of Memphis, MI, son Ernest (Patricia) Schacht; son in law Thomas Boyd of Cheboygan; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. His parents, wife Evelyn, daughter Marlene Boyd, four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Philip Tragis were 11:30am Saturday January 19 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart with Father Michael Burt officiating. Internment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart.
