MOUNT PLEASANT — Orval "Cub" John Rohen, 98, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mount Pleasant.

Cub was born on Sept. 3, 1918, in Evart, the son of James Edward and Bertina Edna (Bently) Rohen. On Dec. 26, 1945, he married the former Mary Margaret Brian in Evart.

Cub was a resident of Mount Pleasant since 1942. He was the manager of First Automotive for 42 years. Prior to working for the auto parts store, he was a driver for Gase Bakery for many years. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Cub was a member of the American Legion Post No. 110 where he was a past commander and a grand marshal in a local parade.

Cub and Mary enjoyed camping, traveling and trips to the casino. He was a bowler for more than 40 years, winning many trophies and awards. He was a graduate of Evart High School, class of 1936.

Survivors include his children, Judy (Troy) Perkins and Kay (John) Tuttle, both of Mount Pleasant. Cub also is survived by nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; sons, Edward and Johnny; and a daughter, Linda, along with two brothers, two sisters and both parents.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Rowley Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Bongard officiating. Friends and family gathered on Monday. Interment took place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart beside his wife Mary. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Commission on Aging or the Americal Legion Post No. 110. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
