Olin Louis Moore

Olin Louis Moore went home to the Lord on March 9, 2013, at the age of 80.

Olin was preceded in death by his wife, Crystal Mae Moore (Klann); his daughter, Shelly Lynne Roberts; and granddaughter, Julie Ann Sims.

Olin Moore is lovingly remembered by his daughters and family members, including  daughter Sue Sims and her spouse, Arlen Sims, of Reed City; grandchildren, Chris Rolston and Kevin Sims; great-grandchildren, Brooke Bali, Jordon Rolston, Joshua Rolston and Andre Jones; daughter, Shelly Roberts (deceased) and son-in-law, Mike Roberts; grandchildren, Sarah Curtis, Amber Nelson , Jessica Stearns, Ridge Stearns, and David Roberts; daughter, Sandy Moore, of Evart; grandchildren, Dustin Langworthy, Rose Pennock, and  Jeff Fisherman; great-grandchildren, Trayer Langworthy, Dallas Langworthy, Donny Pennock, Destiny Pennock, and Lilyanne Pennock; daughter, Stephanie Maxham and her spouse, Charles Maxham, of Stanwood; grandchildren, Jeffrey Maxham, Katelyn Maxham, Conner Maxham and Benjamin Maxham.

Olin Moore was born in his farmhouse in Evart on Jan. 12, 1933, to John and Elise Moore. He graduated in 1952 from Evart High School, where he enjoyed playing on the football and basketball teams. During those years, he received the nickname “Moose.” He served eight years in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Olin was married to the love of his life, Crystal Mae Klann, on Sept. 7, 1957. They were married in a candlelight service at First Baptist Church on Fort Street in Lincoln Park. Olin and Crystal were active members of Calvary Baptist Church of Evart, Liberty Baptist Church of Reed City and First Baptist Church of Evart during their years in Evart. He owned Moore’s Leisure Village, east of Evart, for more than a decade and retired from Roberts Express in 2001.

A celebration of Olin Moore’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, located at 317 North Main Street in Evart, on Saturday, March 23. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m. The reception will follow at the church.
