Obituary: Wave Irene Bailey
WAVE IRENE BAILEY
REED CITY — Wave I. (Houseman) Bailey, 83 of Reed City, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at her home. She was born June 10, 1927 in Reed City to Ren and LulaMae (Pratt) Houseman, and was a lifelong resident.
She was employed in 1960 with Gardner Denver (Cooper Group) in Reed City and retired after nearly 30 years of service. An avid crafter, Wave owned and operated her own craft store, “Crafty Corners,” from her home on East Todd Avenue.
She was married Jan. 4, 1947, to Harvey W. Bailey, who preceded her in death in 1997. Wave is survived by four sons: Harvey (Susan) of Big Rapids; Charles (Sheila) of Virginia; Keith (Darla Szpeich), Big Rapids; and Gary (Gail) of Hersey; 25 grandchildren and one foster grandson, Brian Protafka, of Mount Pleasant; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavada (Roger) Bowman, of Leroy; Myrtle (Ray) Groendyk, of Grandville; two brothers, Keith (Janice) Houseman, of Leroy; Rex (Alberta) Houseman, of Leroy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Sandra Nordquist and Connie Potter, one son, David (an infant), and two granddaughters, Cheri Lynde and Tonya Bailey.
A memorial open house will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 from noon to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Township Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
