Obituary: Ruth Hines Maguire


EVART — Ruth Hines Maguire, 91, of Evart passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Metron of Cedar Springs.

She was born Aug. 18, 1919 to Alonzo and Almira (Still) Hines in Orwell, Ohio. She attended Evart Public Schools from 4th to 11th grade, then took her last year of school and graduated from Evart High in 1971. She married Kenneth Maguire on June 14, 1936 who preceded her in death on June 2, 1995, they were married nearly 59 years.

She lived nearly all her life in the Evart area, 13 years at Pogy Lake and moved to Evart in October of 1951. She worked at Evart Products beginning in 1953 and retiring in 1982 as was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evart. She enjoyed crafts such as sewing, crocheting and counted cross stitch.

She leaves behind daughter, Margene Phoenix of Jones; two sons, Gordon (Virginia) Maguire of Rockford and Stanley (Nellie) Maguire of Huntsville, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, son Roger, four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 29 at Corey Funeral Home, Evart with Rev. Ryan Beilfuss, Pastor of Evart First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Hersey.
