Russell Edwin Hitzemann REED CITY \u2014 Russell Edwin Hitzemann, 88, of Reed City, passed away on April 17, 2011, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1922, in St. Paul, Minn., to Edwin Hitzemann and Laura Simard. He was a 1940 graduate of Marshall High School in St. Paul. He was employed as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service in Detroit before moving to Reed City in 1945, where he established Hitzemann Realty, Bookkeeping and Tax Preparation, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1984. On June 3, 1978, in Detroit, he married Darline Ferguson, who survives. He became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church after moving to Reed City. He is survived by his wife, Darline Hitzemann of Reed City; sons, Donald (Jeanne) Hitzemann of Big Rapids and Brian \u201cB.J.\u201d (Cynthia) Hitzemann of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter, Charlotte (Paul) Phillips of Pell City, Ala.; stepsons, Garnet (Gwendolyn) Steadman of Grand Haven, John (Priscilla) Slendak of Indiana, Skip (Nancy) Slendak of Big Rapids, and Bo (Tina) Slendak of Georgia; daughter-in-law, Claudia (Wayne) Hitzemann of Providence, R.I.; sister-in-law, Paula (Wallace) Hitzemann of Sun City, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne (Claudia) Hitzemann; twin infant sons, Mark and Clark Hitzemann; twin brother, Wallace Hitzemann; and brother Donald Hitzemann. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City, with the Rev. Jeffrey Potter officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to either Hospice of Michigan or to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
