Obituary: Maxine L. Bluhm
MAXINE L. BLUHM
REED CITY - Maxine L. Bluhm, 86, of Reed City, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Spectrum Health – Reed City Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born April 9, 1925 in Green Township, Paris. to James “Jay” and June (Tanner) Fuller. Maxine was a life-long resident of the Reed City area. She was a 1943 graduate of Reed City High School and later in life attended data processing school in Grand Rapids. Maxine worked in that field for many years in the Reed City, Big Rapids, and Grand Rapids area. She retired in 1991 after working for Batdorff Publishing for 20 years.
Maxine loved reading, gardening, genealogy, and her family. She was an avid crafter and particularly enjoyed acrylic painting, woodworking and quilting. She even taught cake decorating at Ferris for five years. Maxine was also a past Noble Grand of the Reed City Odd Fellows and Rebecca Lodge.
Maxine is survived by her children Glenn (Carol) Bluhm and Patricia (Jim) Whaley, both of Reed City, Darwin “Don” (Karen) Bluhm of Hersey, and Gary (Jeanne) Bluhm of Clarksburg, W.V. Maxine is also survived by her brother Dorraine “Dewey” Fuller of Cadillac; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Elsie (Fuller) Leusby; a brother Leon “Dale” Fuller; half-brothers Fred Kelly, Roland Kelly and Ralph Fuller; half sisters Ruby Fuller, Alice (Fuller) Stebelton and Arlene (Kelly) Skoglund; a great grandson Alex Johnson; and a great granddaughter Gabriel Fulton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 9 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Paris with Rev. Fr. Loc Trinh officiating, with burial in Highland View Cemetery, Big Rapids.
Arrangements were entrusted to the McDowell Funeral Home.
