LAWRENCE C. CONRAD REED CITY \u2014 Lawrence C. Conrad, 89, of Reed City, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at his home. He was born April 4, 1921 in West Berlin, Nova Scotia, to Percy and Flossie (Childs) Conrad. They moved to Michigan shortly thereafter, and Lawrence attended Reed City schools, graduating from Reed City High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater. He married Elaine Goldammer on Jan. 20, 1946. Lawrence worked for the Postal Service for over 30 years, serving as postmaster in Reed City from 1971 \u2013 1978. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, and spending time at his cottage with family. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Elaine; two sons, Larry of Reed City and Thomas (Vicki) of Grand Rapids; one daughter, Katherine (Michael) Green of LeRoy; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren (with one on the way). Funeral services were held at Saturday, April 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey Potter and Pastor Michael Green officiating. Burial was in Chase Township Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the McDowell Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church.
