Elizabeth Sarah Kailing
Elizabeth Sarah Kailing, 89, of Reed City, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at her residence. She was born June 6, 1921, to Peter Kuipers and Mary Dyer and was a 1939 graduate of Reed City High School. On Sept. 25, 1948, she was married to Henry Kailing, who passed away in 1985. She was a lifetime member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City, where she had been a member of the Alter Society and helped provide funeral luncheons for many years. Elizabeth loved being surrounded by her family and was always willing to pray for them or for anyone who asked.
She is survived by her sons James Kuipers of Louisville, Ky., and Patrick (Rosemary) Kailing of Reed City; daughters Kay (Edward) Suckow of Paris, Cathy Quinn, Barbara Kailing and Joan (John) Williams of Reed City; Lonnie (Rosemary) Ward of Whitehall; Pamela (John) Vanderhoof of Reed City; Laurie (Daniel) Grein of Reed City; sister Brigid Woodward of Chippewa Lake; 23 grandchildren; and 38 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Daniel Kailing; daughter Nancy Ward; brothers Joseph and John Kuipers; sisters Katherine Christopher, Rita MacKeller and Joan Kuipers; and her parents Peter and Mary Kuipers.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday June 7, 2011, at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City with Rev. Fr. Loc Trinh officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to either Hospice of Michigan or to the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Visitation was from at 4 to 8 p.m. Monday June 6, 2011, at the church with a Rosary service will be held 7 p.m. Online obituary may be viewed and condolences offered at www.pruittlivingston.com.
