Obituary: Donald R. Marsh


SEARS - Donald R. Marsh of Sears passed away Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born Oct. 15, 1929. He graduated from Evart High School and married Pauline on Oct. 10, 1948. They had three children. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in October 2010.

He and his wife, Pauline, traveled extensively to Colorado, Wyoming and Canada on numerous hunting trips for elk, mule deer and moose. They owned and operated a large farm for more than 60 years and have raised strawberries, raspberries, beef cattle, horses, swans, minnows and numerous field crops such as wheat and hay. He ran a pheasant hunting operation for many years and guided hunts with his dog Lucy up until the fall of 2009. His latest endeavor was a Trophy Whitetail Hunting Preserve on the farm while Pauline operated a Bed and Breakfast until 2010.

Don has been the Orient Township Supervisor, the president of Great Lakes Energy Cooperative and served on a number of county boards.

Don was a highly respected member of the community and well-loved by many. He will be greatly missed. A private family service to be held.
