DONALD GEORGE WAYNE
HERSEY — Donald George Wayne, 77, of Hersey, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence.
He was born July 14, 1933, in Hillman to David Wayne and Ida Weiss and attended Mt. Clemens High School. On May 15, 1954 he was married in St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe Park to Bernetta Thayer who survives. He was employed with Carboloy of Warren for 42 years and retired in 1992. Donald was a long time member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Reed City. He loved woodworking, camping, and his two pets Rufus and K.C.
He is survived by his wife Bernetta Wayne of Hersey; sons Russ (Pam) Wayne of Hersey, Rob (Debra) Wayne of Chesterfield and Brian (Ellen) Wayne of Manton; daughter Mary (Richard) DeLor of Richmond; sister Bettie Heisner; brother Harry Wayne; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Ida Wayne.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Reed City with Rev. Fr. Tony Vainavicz officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Reed City. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to either St. Philip Neri Catholic Church or to Hospice of Michigan and envelopes will be available at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 until service time.
