Obituary: Charles Edward Cowley IV


SEARS — Charles Edward Cowley IV, 32, of Sears passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at his home, unexpectedly.

He was born May 3, 1979, in St. Johns to Charles Edward Cowley III and Ellen Eve Personious. He moved to the Evart area from Owosso in 1992 where he attended Evart Public Schools. The last two years he resided in the Sears area. He was married on Oct. 7, 2005, in Greenville to Melissa Ann Kroesing, who survives. He worked at Gibsons in Greenville and at Wolverine Worldwide in Big Rapids until his vision forced him to retire. He volunteered for Rock of Ages, loved the outdoors, playing cards, sitting around the bonfire, playing practical jokes on people, hanging out with friends and visiting with his families. He is sadly missed by his three dogs, Moose, Star and Buster.

He leaves behind his wife, Melissa Ann Cowley of Sears; mother, Ellen Wilcox of Evart; father, Charles Edward Cowley III; wife Carol of Sears; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Gwen and Gerald Denny of Empire; maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Allen and Virginia Personious of Ovid; maternal great grandmother, Estherella Personious of Ovid; mother and father in-law, Jim and Cindy Kroesing of Howard City and Greenville; Grandparents, Eugene and Laura Kroesing of Howard City and Greenville and Allan and Shirley Kinsbury of Gowen; brother, Daniel Cowley of Sears; sister, Kristine Sator of Evart; step-sister, Noel Wonnacott of North Carolina; three nephews, Cameron, Charles, and Chandler and one niece, Krystian. He was preceded in death by grandmother, Barbara Cowley, grandfather, Charles Edward Cowley II and grandmother, Donna Kroesing.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 8 at Corey Funeral Home, Evart with Rev. Ryan Beilfuss officiating. Place of interment is at Orient Township Cemetery, Sears. Those who wish to consider memorial contributions are asked to remember the need of the family.
