Myles I. Schooley Jr.

EVART — Myles I. Schooley Jr., 83, of Evart, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Spectrum Health in Reed City.

Mr. Schooley was born on Sept. 27, 1930, in Sylvan Township, to Myles Irvine Schooley Sr. and Grace Delight Watt Schooley. He married Betty Lou Rodgers on June 7, 1952, at the Sylvan United Methodist Church. Myles was a lifelong Sylvan Township resident, where he served as Township Supervisor for 34 years.

He farmed his entire life on the family centennial farm.

Mr. Schooley is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Schooly, of Evart; two daughters, Carol ((David) Berghoff, of Evart, and Dawn Schooley, of Hesperia; three sons, John Schooley, of Evart, Jim (Billie Jean Patton) Schooley, of Evart, and Jack (Kimmy) Schooley, of Evart; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sarah Blackledge, of Evart, and Nancy (David) Dennis, of Evart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Louise; a son, Leroy Nelson; two sisters, Elsie Belle, and her husband, Ed Marsh, and Peggy; and brother-in-law, Elton Blackledge.

Funeral services for Myles I. Schooley Jr. are at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Corey Funeral Home in Evart. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the funeral home. Internment will be in Sylvan Township Cemetery in the spring.
