Muskegon River Trash Bash a huge success

Tires and trash removed from area

EVART — The annual Muskegon River Trash Bash in Evart was a huge success with tons of trash being removed from the river and the surrounding area through the month of August.

According to information posted on the city of Evart Facebook page, 6 tires were collected, along with "lots of other garbage."

Over 60 team members from the Lume Cannabis Co. Riverside Fireflies participated. Volunteers said it was the most fun they have ever had volunteering and they loved the event.

The Muskegon River Trash Bash is an annual event sponsored by MRWA that focuses on cleaning up the Muskegon and all surrounding areas.

The main focus is on the river itself, but they also welcome ground teams as the banks need attention, too.  The Trash Bash runs from August 1 to August 30 each year with teams choosing their own area to clean and time to go out.

MRWA and the city of Evart will host the Muskegon River Trash Bash Wrap Up party from 6 to 9 p.m., Sept. 1, at the Evart Depot, 200 S. Main St., Evart. The public is invited to attend.

The event will include food trucks, live music and prize drawings for thrash bash participants. Free t-shirts will be given out to the first 50 participants to arrive.
